To immerse yourself

Pros: To immerse yourself — that’s the first word that comes to mind if you truly want to experience the jungle. Jungle Hut is, above all, a magnificent garden — both by day and by night — right in the heart of the reserve. Your hut faces the mountain range, allowing you to admire the landscape while sipping a cup of tea. Lonely Planet mentions that the meals here are among the best in the region — and that’s absolutely true. Breakfast is a real delight. Walk through the park, meet deer, does, or monkeys along the way, and take a refreshing dip in the pool. Safaris are always a bit of a gamble — spotting wildlife depends on timing and luck. I’m leaving with wonderful memories and photos of bison, peacocks, monkeys, deer, and even a majestic elephant on the way back to Bangalore.

Fantastic find!

Pros: We really loved the hospitality! The food was par excellence each day! The whole ambience and kindness of all the staff spoke volumes of the establishment. Tracey and Gibran went out of their way to help us and we were really grateful for a peaceful, joyful and fun holiday with the kids. Mr Rohan Mathias engaged us in meaningful conversations which were personal and he took the time to be warm and friendly each day. Went via the property for the safari and got really lucky and sighted a leopard. At the property itself, we got to see plenty of wildlife. Our kids were thrilled to bits with the place!

Cons: There was no intercom facility and if the books in the kids area could be arranged such that it’s possibly age segregated would be great.

Safe and peaceful stay in the middle of a game reserve.

Pros: Excellent managers! Very responsive and professional - a perfect blend of efficient and friendly, with a constant eagle-eye on their staff and guest experience. All the food was delicious, always hot and frequently replenished with superb choices. Beautiful, peaceful, unpolluted location with just the sound of birdsong in the air.

Cons: View from our room wasn’t the best as it was facing towards the dining room & reception area. Other rooms had views across the mountains.

We loved the atmosphere, as we felt we were engaging with the local context.

Pros: The location of Jungle Hut was really special - quiet, near to nature and with fantastic views. Staff were all great and keen to help us enjoy our stay to the full. There were lots of activities on offer, from bird-watching to a trip into the Tiger Reserve. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. We stayed in one of the luxury tents, which really made us feel like we were on safari! There was a lovely sense of privacy, as the huts and tents were well spread out around the resort. Food was wonderful, lots of variety and high quality - we ate well every day and for every meal. The whole atmosphere felt adventurous, yet safe. We felt we were staying within a local context, as opposed to a faceless international resort.

Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.
