Serene location on the water. Fabulous hosts. Great stay.

Pros: The location was serene. The couple who own the homestay are incredibly kind. We decided to stay for dinner as well as breakfast. The food was very very good. The couldn’t do more to please us. A great place.

Idyllic, peaceful, friendly!

Pros: Lovely riverside oasis with such kind and thoughtful hosts - even though my stay was short it felt like family . The home cooked food was my favourite of my trip so far! Delicious! They were also so kind as the give me a lift all the way to train station in the next town as they were heading in that direction- thank you! They organised a dawn boat trip that leaves directly from the garden and is magnificent!

Beautiful. Thoroughly recommended

Pros: This is a beautifully secluded house right on the banks of the lagoon. The hosts are incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The food was absolutely delightful and thoroughly recommended. The hosts organised a very enjoyable early morning boat ride leaving from the garden and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed, especially in arranging autos for us to get around. The rooms.were spacious, well equipped and clean. We really enjoyed sitting on the waterside platform at the end of the day watching the wildlife and seeing the sun go down over the palm trees.

Cons: We needed the hosts to provide a mattress topper to make our bed more comfortable. Being by the water, there are inevitably a lot of mosquitos around. Make sure you have plenty of high quality repellent and a plug in deterant for the rooms as none are provided.

Beautiful and peaceful rural retreat

Pros: Meera and Praveen were very kind and caring hosts, just ask them for anything and they will help! The sunrise punt boat trip around the bird sanctuary (they picked us up from the homestay garden) was an incredible experience, and the garden itself is a very peaceful place to while away the afternoon. Praveen recommended a great riverfront restaurant for lunch, just a 20 minute tuktuk ride away - Kattans in Feroke. We didn’t see much of Praveen as he was recovering from a knee operation, but Meera and the housekeeper prepared us tasty breakfasts once we were able to eat - food poisoning that we picked up elsewhere sadly took out the first half of our stay, but it was at least a very peaceful place to recuperate! There are two rooms to rent - we had the twin/extra large double ensuite with a lovely window seat. The other bigger room with a mezzanine floor and two double beds looked very nice too.

Cons: Nothing really. We didn’t manage to get the hot water working, but we could have asked the hosts for extra help… Cool showers are not a problem in hot climates anyway!

Pros: The property was beautifully maintained and is a river front house. The host is a very friendly person and made us feel at home.

Cons: There were frequent powercuts unfortunately. There could be power backup for the main lights and fan of the rooms.

Excellent hospitality and ambiance

Pros: It was very satisfying. Me and my family had an amazing time,sitting at the deck and overlooking the river. The room we had was also looking over the river bank and it was stunning. the service was Excellent. The meals were given at the right time. And there were no hurdles at all. So in an overall experience it was a smooth stay.

An exceptional homestay set in beautiful grounds in a magical location.

Pros: The most fabulous homestay in a wonderful, peaceful location set in the most beautiful garden which stretches down to the river and borders a bird sanctuary. The room is so comfortable and spacious. The owners, Praveen and Meena are charming. Praveen organised a boat trip for us early one morning (directly from the garden) where we saw a spectacular sunrise, loads of birds and we glided through a mango swamp. Praveen also organised a tuktuk to take us into Kozhikode and a taxi to the railway station (FAROKE). Meena is a fantastic cook, our breakfasts were delicious and dinners were sublime.

Cons: There’s absolutely nothing not to like.

Perfect place

Pros: Wonderful place & people. Great location. Felt at home instantly & would love to return.

Pros: The host was very good. He arranged the auto/cab for sightseeing, airport transfer. He also helped us in getting the boat ride. He also suggested the good pure veg restaurant and arranged auto for us to reach there. The room was good and clean also and location was also mesmerizing.

Great homestay experience - would love to come again!

Pros: Praveen and his wonderful wife are the most friendly and caring hosts we met. They truly cared about us by halping arranging outings, preparing trips and above all, by their wonderful cuisine - the food was heavenly delicious. Malayem features a wonderful garden at the river with a nice deck to sit at. Both rooms are equipped with AC, which comes in very handy given the humid climate. Close to the hotel is a bridge where you can watch beautiful sunsets!

Cons: nothing - all good! :-)
