Home / Sight SeeingIn 1824 the artificial lake was formed by Mr.John Sullivan the then collector. The lake extends to an area of around 66 acres. Boating in ooty lake is the most pleasurable activity for the tourists whoever visits ooty.
The highest peak in The Nilgiris is Doddabetta. It is 2634 metres high. A not to miss place for each and every tourists. The T.T.D.C. runs a Telescope House from where you can have a splendid view of the district from there.
The Rose Garden was opened in commemoration of the Centenary Flower festival. The garden is situated in a span of 4 hectares. You can see more than 20,000 plants with around 3000 varieties of roses in the garden.
If you want to see the tribal artefacts, ecological information, sculptural arts and crafts do visit the museum. It is situated in the Ooty-Mysore road. The museum was setup in the year 1989 as an informative place in The Nilgiris
The Avalanche Lake is located 28 kilometers from Ooty. It is also called as Avalanchi lake. Tourists can do Trout fishing. Fishing rods and accessories are available nearby. You can also go rafting across the lake as well as tent near the lake.
Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden was opened in the year 1847 and maintained by the Horticulture Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. It is situated in a wide span of 55 acres. Thousands of species are there in Lower Garden, New Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory, Fountain Terrace and Nurseries.
