Quiet location on a slope above Munnar - bright airy rooms with nice balcony view of the town.
Pros: Located above Munnar town, quiet and peaceful with a nice balcony view of the town. Rooms are clean, big, airy, and well lighted due to big glass windows and French door on one entire side of the room. It was great to wake up to bird calls for several hours in the early morning, instead of car horns! The place has a nice small garden up front with several native trees/shrubs, flowering plants, and a good place to look for birds in the early morning or late evening. We had several route choices to get into the main part of town, with one being a nice walk through a narrow street bordered part of the way by flowering plants and trees. Staff were very accommodating of our requests (additional blankets, electric water kettle, toiletries), and helpful with local directions, even though they did not speak much English.
Cons: Neither of these are major, but something I hope the management can fix: (1) Given most homestays/hotels in India don't have sound-proofing, there were no signs for quiet hours. We had very noisy guests a couple of nights that woke up for an early morning trip at 3 AM and woke us up with loud talking, singing, and door slamming - no awareness that there were other guests staying at the hotel. Perhaps signs should be posted on all doors so guests are reminded of quiet hours - say between 10 PM and 6 AM? A couple of other times, we had guests playing the TV on high volume, as we were trying to enjoy a quiet afternoon in the room. So, perhaps a sign next to the TV asking guests to check their volume in case other guests don't want to listen to their shows? (2) They have a bright floodlight to light up the front of the property all-night. So, after it gets dark, its a bit hard to enjoy the balcony and the city lights. Also, if you are sensitive to light while sleeping, then this floodlight comes through the closed curtains, which are not thick enough for blocking light.
